Welcome to King County 4-H Virtual Showcase!
The purpose of the 4-H Showcase is to give 4-H members enrolled in the King County 4-H Programs the opportunity to have fun sharing and showcasing what they have been learning and working on this 4-H year. Exhibitors will be awarded both virtual and real ribbons and a , will receive feedback from judges. Some of our animal project categories will have live judging available.
There is no cost to participate in this event.
Process for Entering Exhibits:
Entering exhibits in the 4-H Virtual Showcase will involve capturing your 4-H project in a digital format, through photographs, video links, or PDF or Word documents before being uploaded to the FairEntry system. Digital entries can be uploaded from a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Since private videos cannot be shared with a link (and will not work in FairEntry), the FairEntry support team recommend that videos are created and then uploaded into YouTube, where they can be categorized as “unlisted.” For more specific info and instructions, visit https://fairentry.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360049604733-How-to-Make-a-Youtube-Video-Unlisted
The 4-H Virtual Showcase Exhibitor Guide will be available on the King County 4-H webpage for Fairs and Events:
https://extension.wsu.edu/king/4-h/fairs-and-events/
This will outline how many photos, files, or links you will need to upload for each class. If you have questions, contact the project superintendent. Project enrollment will only be linked in animal project classes, so feel free to enter as many items as allowed in all other classes like creative arts, photography, plant sciences, and fiber arts.
Videotaping
Make sure to position your camera person at a spot where you can always be seen.
One continuous video “take” is preferred, but it is acceptable to stop and change obstacles due to space constraints and then restart the video.
Zoom in as much as possible so that your feet and hands can be seen, you should not be just a blur in the distance. On the other hand, we always need to see the whole horse/rider.
Use as high a quality setting as possible.
Videos must be no more than 5 minutes long.
Herdsmanship - purpose of this class is for the member to share the message of what they learned and continue to learn about their horse project. Entry narrative (2-3 minute video, PDF or Word format) that describes what you’ve been doing and learning in the 4-H horse project this year! You can tell us about your horse, your favorite activity or least favorite horse chore. Tell us what your horse thinks about being a project horse. Be creative and have fun
